MasterCard BIN Expansion

Bank Identification Numbers (BINs), which are the first six digits of the account number, are fundamental to payments. MasterCard has received an additional range of 2-series numbers to add to their existing 5-series.  

Your payment system will likely need to be updated, should you choose to do so. If you choose not to update your equipment, you will not be able to accept any new MasterCard issued with a 2-series BIN number.

Instructions

Instructions vary based on how you process credit:

Processing Through the Register System (DresserWayne, XML or External Server)

No upgrades are needed.  Your equipment is able to accept the new MasterCard 2-series BIN numbers.

Using a Unitec Site Server

• If your processor is Priority Wash or Mercury Payment Systems, our Technical Support Department will work with you directly to determine what updates may be needed. To get started send our Technical Support Department an email with your site and unit information. 
• If your processor is FDR, Paymentech, TSYS or Elavon, Choose your modem to determine what updates may be needed.
